Risources for translators and interpreters
There are several tools that can be very useful for translators and interpreters. Tis list includes the ones I use or those I consider useful.
Software
CAT
Among them there are CAT (computer assisted translation) tools and other software for managing client portfolio, invoicing, glossaries etc.
Wordfast- Extremely flexible CAT software, light, reasonable price. I've been using it for two years and more and find it the best available. Can be used also on Mac and Linux (with some small adaptations).
Catscradle - I found it wonderful both for the cat-like graphics and because it is extremely useful for translating web sites!
Transit - Another CAT tool, pretty well known. I downloaded the freelance (free) version but an enhanced, complete version is also available.
OmegaT - frewware for Linux. Not widespread but well known among limux users.
Management, invoicing and rates
Freebudget/webbudget - software for counting words/lines/characters/pages in different file formats. Very nice when you need to assess the cost of a translation.
