Terms and conditions

  1. The unit for calculating the cost of a translation is the 1500 characters (with spaces) standard page for technical texts and the 1800 characters page for literary translation. Additional services such as legalization, summary, transcription from a tape etc.. are calculated as a percentage on the total cost of the translation or applying an hourly rate.


  2. A translation or interpreting job MUST be confirmed by a purchase order, contract or any similar document containing all information on rates, delivery, terms of payment, additional services. In case of a translation for editorial purposes, all relevant laws on copyright are applicable.


  3. The translator shall have the right to see the document before accepting a translation job. The original document will be delivered to the translator in a legible form and will include all pictures, tables and graphics that may be part of the document itself. Reference documents shall also be provided if available.


  4. The translated document is delivered in .doc format. Different formats must be specified in the purchase order.


  5. The working day for interpreting jobs is of 7 hours, with a break (one hour) for lunch. The rate can be presented on an hourly basis (service lasting less than 3 h) or on a per day basis. Jobs requiring travel includes, beside the normal rate also travelling and full board expenses or a forfeit dally allowance to be paid by the client.


  6. In case of simultaneous interpreting, there must be a booth for each output language. There must be two interpreters for each booth. An interpreter may work alone only if the interpreting service is required for an hour or less. For consecutive interpreting jobs, there must be an interpreter for each language, and a second interpreter is required if the venue lasts more than 7 hours.


  7. Payment must be settled upon delivery of the translation and within 30 days from receipt of the invoice or debit note. For large projects we may require advanced or instalment payment.


  8. In case a translation/interpreting job is cancelled, the customer shall pay a cancellation fee equal to 10% of the total amount of the contract. The translation that has already been performed is forwarded to the client and must be paid for.


  9. Complaints on a job must be presented within 30 days from the date of delivery/performance of the job.
